It was my earlier years as a backyard beekeeper that my
passion for honey and love for my bees
inspired me to make bee keeping my livelihood.
It was always a challenge to find good bee stock back then.
Most of us just purchased from each other or grafted our own
queens so it would not be long before we beekeepers had all
the same bees. But,
we had not heard about Varroa Mite yet so other than a bit
of foulbrood and nosema beekeeping was not really that bad,
in fact, it was fun.
Today we do not have the
selection problems. We can get on the phone and order a queen
from nearly any country in the world and it will be
delivered in 24 hours. But we did
inherit a few quality problems with all this global commerce
including the mites, new viruses and now C.C.D. After considerable
research, trial and error, and our love of the industry
we feel that we have overcome the quality problems. Our
suppliers in Northern California import their breeder queens
from some of the finest most recognized breeders in the country. Thanks to our continuing research, dedication to
quality, expertise and attention to detail, I think it is
fair to say that we have some of the finest bee stock in the
world available for our customers today.
To compliment the Apiary the high
standards of
The Brushy
Mountain Bee Farm and
their dedication to provide high quality products to the
beekeeper is world renown, and now both entities are
available at one site on the West Coast.
Cedar Glen Bees is located about 50 miles North of Seattle
